This diptych illustrates the double notion, “ex aliquo” (from something), “ex nihilo” (from nothing). As in the cells of the biological body, each relies on its other to exist. We are therefore not born from nothing, and above all we become nothing without our neighbour. That said, what about the first incarnation, did it come from “nothing”? How can this mystery be solved? The solution could be a cycle, mutiples that aggregate to form a unity – a whole, which in turn disappears, redispersing itself again, bringing the multiplicity back to life. And so on …
